I’m Melinda Hamilton.
Let me help you make your book better.
Whatever state your book is in, I’m here to help. I believe writing a book is like creating pottery: the first draft is the process of creating the clay, and all the subsequent versions are shaping the clay into a beautiful piece of pottery. Whatever you need for your book to reach the next level—developmental edit, line edit, copy edit, or proofread—I’m here to help you polish your story and your storytelling without losing your voice.
My process begins with a consultation and a sample edit. Based on the sample edit, I will develop a quote for your work. Rest assured that anything I send you will be completely edited by me personally—I don’t use any software or AI in my editing. You can email me or use the contact form. I look forward hearing from you, and happy writing!

Developmental Editing
When you’re ready for another set of eyes to help you find plot holes, character development problems, and other big picture issues.

Copy and Line Editing
Line editing focuses on transitions, point of view shifts, story flow, sentence fragments, and other items. Copy editing focuses on punctuation, capitalization, appropriate word choice, and other grammatical matters.

Proofreading
Generally the last step in the editing process, proofreading is to catch all those last minute errors that have survived (or been introduced during) the editing process. The last chance to make your manuscript shine before publication.
